The knives created by Flanders Forge are made from high carbon steel like the traditional knives of old, the high carbon steel creates a great cutting edge. Care must be taken when storing or transporting your knife as it is made of carbon steel and will rust if not properly cared for.   Never store your knife in a wet or damp sheath, It will rust!  Some ways of caring for your knife are to wipe fingerprints from the blade or to wash and dry it by hand after each use and before storage, do not use the dishwasher as this will rust your knife. The knife blade can be lightly oiled with olive oil to repel moisture as this is safer for food handling.  If storing the knife for long periods of time, it is recommended to remove the knife from the sheath or simply store in a dry place.
